Description
Dutch schoolkids are striking today in protest at a hike in the number of hours per year they’re obliged to spend in school, we learn from Trouw. The school students’ union LAKS is organising a rally in Amsterdam. The organisation’s 17-year-old head tells AD she’s got nothing against extra hours for proper lessons, but in practice the extra time will end up as what she describes as “coop-up hours”. Pupils will be left teacherless and twiddling their thumbs.
